Sahana represents the new age contemporary bengali vocalists who have given a modern identity to the various genres of Bengali music.

Born in the cultural abode of Bengal  – Santiniketan, she started singing when she was just three years old. Her debut album was released in 2007 was a collection of Tagore songs, which was much liked & appreciated and eventually brought her fame. Apart from Tagore songs, folk music is her forte as well. She also has recorded songs for Bengali films. It was in 2012 she recorded her first playback for Bengali film ‘Tasher Desh’. Apart from this she has also recorded playback for few other films like ‘Hawa Badal’, ‘Family Album’, ‘Ek Je Chhilo Raja’.

The famous songs of Sahana Bajpaie are ‘Maharaja Eki Saje’, ‘O Je Mane Na Mana’, ‘Tomra Kunjo Sajao Go’, ‘Amar Haat Bandhibi Pa Bandhibi’.

She lives in London and currently pursuing her PhD in Ethnomusicology.

INRECO - HINDUSTHAN

The Journey that began in 1932, had brought Hindusthan Records at the epicenter of a vast creative activity in the field of music, since the city was the then seat of varied musical activities covering different genres.

History remained a witness on the 5th day of April 1932 – Poet Rabindranath Tagore stepped inside Hindusthan Record’s building to inaugurate the studio. Not only that, he also recorded one of his own compositions, on the same day. Eventually, several other great recordings followed – Atul Prasad Sen, Pankaj Kumar Mullick, Ustad Faiyaz Khan, Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Khan, Anupam Ghatak, K.L.Saigal, Sachin Deb Burman, Renuka Sengupta, Amiya Thakur and Amita Sen followed.

Now, in its continuous endeavour to retain its creative supremacy, the Company has entered a new, yet varied allied activity.

The erstwhile and legendary recording studio was modernized in 2018 & recordings of eminent modern day artistes are conducted frequently. Today, the regular visits of the legendary artists in this historical studio continues to glorify the place.

The contemporary artists of today are inspired and have joined hands with Hindusthan Record in recreating the music of yesteryears, from the huge universe of music, this company boasts of.

When INRECO was set up in 1977 it was the 3rd Record Manufacturing Unit in India and the first, which was 100%, Indianowned.  The Company was a successor in interest to Hindusthan Musical Products Ltd.

The Indian Record Mfg Co Ltd, started with a wide range of artistes from Punjabi to Bhojpuri to Marathi, Tamil and Malayalam. Among the artistes recorded were Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Pt. Mallikarjun Manas, Pt. Kumar Gandharva, Ustad Amir Khan and Manna Dey.

During this period from 1978-80 the major Tamil and Malayalam Films were released on the INRECO Banners. These included Super Hit Tamil Films, Priya, Oru Thalai Raagam, Jhonny Sikappu Rojakkal, Puthiya Vaarppughal, Kali Aarliruntha 60 Vari, and Super Hit Malayalam Films like Sarppam, Thakara, Tharitta Kinakkal, Etha Oru Theeram, Pratheeksha, and many more.

From 1985, INRECO came into its own specially in Carnatic Music and a series of releases of such artistes as Sudha Ragunathan, P. Unnikrishnan, Bombay S. Jayashri. Sowmya. Nithyasree Ma- hadevan, T.N. Krishnan, Kadri Gopalnath, Kunnkadi-Vaidyanathan, took the Company to an eminent position in the country’s Music Industry.

In North India, too, the Company took up Hindustani Classical Recording and with HINDUSTHAN has been releasing recordings of such artistes as Ustad Rashid Khan, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Gangubai Hangal, Ramkumar Chatterjee. the names INRECO and HINDUSTHAN today convey to the discerning listener a treasure-trove of the musical heritage of India.
